I made the switch over to the Cake network about 3 months ago. I have had a lot of success in online poker, and for my first month at Cake I wasn't doing to good. I was wondering if I was losing my touch. Finally after 2 months there I started winning again. I really like the whole setup and the gold cards, but I realized the problem. The Cake network has the most donkeys in one place I have ever seen. Everyone on this network is a total mess! I tell yowhat there is a lot of straighs on this network and people getting rivered. I love it there, but I'm debating on if I'm going to stay. Its making me grow old fast if you know what i mean!

You hit it right on the nose when it comes to there regular games.
Try playing more private events & that will cut the donks in half.
I like CakePoker alot.

Cheers !

I haven't deposited there yet, but am thinking about it.  I've been playing some freerolls lately and I do love the setup.  I've been doing great on other sites though, so it's hard to leave and play elsewhere!

And there are only so many hours in the day  Grin

The major reason I play different sites - so I don't see the same players every day. It's fine for a social evening to play poker with a bunch of friends. But when I'm playing for money in online public games (cash or tournament) I don't want the same players. OH - but you think I know their betting patterns - re raise or continuation bet... yep I know pretty much what they are holding.

I was more than a little upset with the Merge network latest release - no longer can I do a search for my ATM machine. The Buddy system has been changed. Now if I keep notes on my opponents don't you think they keep them about me? And don't you think your opponents keep notes on you?

i like Cake network too.  my gold cards are worthless though.  i like the gold chips though.  you can play sitngos (but you can only win more gold chips)  or buy in to tournys with them (win a seat in a $ tourny or buy into selected $ tourny's a few times a month. (usually saturdays)
also if your lucky enough (top 7) to outlast the donkeys you can win a seat in their bankroll satelitte held on sat..half are usually sit outs. the cash tables are absurd.  people raise and reraise with bottom pair,  call to the river on a gutshot and go all in with ace rag.

I played a lot at Cake before deposit options for USA players were modified. I do still play private trnys and qualifying freerolls there. But it is difficult with the all in maniacs involved!

I find it easy to play and have not deposited there since I got my bankroll through private event and the million dollar series tournament they had, made in the money 2 times out the last three they had (used their freerolls tickets to get into the tournament).

I found the donks are on all sites.  Each site has it's own personality, so you have learn what strategy works and then use it on that site.

I journal them in case they change over time (which does happen).

i think your right about each site having its own personality.  i find i do have to modify my play.  great wins cow344.  i have never even tried to play those tournys(the million $ series).  i just might give it a go.  you have inspired me.  karma 4 you. Smiley

the more donks the better, they might beat you once in a while, but you get ppl calling 1 and 2 outers youre going to win big. I love Cake for the donks, the more the better. If you play at Cake above the 2/4 limits you will find the play very tough indeed, lots of regular with big big rolls...I think the sng are the best thing going there, very loose and easy to get seated..never had much luck in their real money tournies, always get the worst cards

Solution to the glass is half full - half empty ......

If you are taken something out of the glass than its half empty if you are putting something in the glass than its half full..
