Rememberence Day is tomorow so I decided to post this poem
I think eveyone knows it but here it is anyways.

In Flanders Fields
By: Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army
IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Thank you for posting this, underdog. I thought I would include some photos that my son took on his trip to Washington DC over the summer.

I love this Photo, it says so much with the stormy clouds behind the flag.

I just wonder when they will start honouring the current people dieing may they be soldiers or civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries ( there a few African Nations receiving  aid, food etc.).

There allot of sadness and unfairness going on in this world that I will never understand!

I believe this day is honoring the ones who have given themselves for their country. This day is not about political agendas or about shady government dealings. This is about the soldiers.

A veteran is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to their country for an amount of : 'up to and including my life.'

That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Good point but there are allot of aid workers whom we do not honour at all and they also write the same blank cheque as veterans!
