I need to know what is the secret to winning at an online tournament.  Many times I am up and then wam I get put out by a bad beat with a great hand!!!

You may want to try not playing for your whole stack against larger ones that can put you out - a form of pot control.  However, if you're truly busting in situations where you're well ahead, then it's not a concern since you want to play for your stack at those times.

thats poker! ask yourself,was it really a badbeat or could you have played it differently.In the tournaments i have won,I have sometimes had to lay down what i thought was probably the winning hand.thats where getting to know people at your table helps.If some guy raises alot or always bets like he hit,those are the ones i take more chances against.If a "rock" re-raises,FOLD unless you have a hand that cant be beaten by anything else.better to live to fight another hand.late in a tournament you will have to take more chances if your chip stack is below average,otherwise antes will eat you up.
