PokerStars upping guarantees again

Is any guarantee good enough for PokerStars' standards?

Yesterday the world's largest poker site announced it was upping tournament guarantees yet again.

The Super Tuesday event will go from $300,000 to $400,000, while a total of seven events on Sunday will all be getting a hefty boost in guarantees.

The announcement comes just a little over two weeks after the site increased many of the Sunday tournament guarantees, including most notably the Sunday Million from $1 million to $1.5 million.

Last Sunday the Million brought out 7,651, which is, amazingly, a relatively low turnout for the epic online contest, which routinely draws nearly 10,000 players. Online player Gunslinger3 still took down an impressive $140,921 for winning the latest edition.

PokerListings players have even more of a reason to log on to PokerStars during the coming weeks with an unprecedented $24,000 freeroll marathon scheduled for Sept. 6-7.

Open to any PL.com players who acquire 100 frequent player points in the month of August, the setup will see 24 consecutive $1,000 freerolls held from Saturday at 3 p.m. (EST) to Sunday at 3 p.m. (EST).

"Bust out of one freeroll and there's another ready and waiting for you," explained PokerListings.com media relation director Hannah Mayen. "If you've got the stamina it could be a very lucrative 24 hours, and with just 100 FPPs to qualify for all 24 freerolls, you can't argue with the value."

The qualifying period ends Aug. 31, 2008, and is open to all PokerListings players have signed up for and opened an account at PokerStars through a PokerListings link.
