Improve your results
« on: July 30, 2010, 08:01:59 PM »
One of the best ways to improve your poker is to eliminate distractions. First and most improtant is SHUT OFF THE TV! If you're watching TV, eating, talking on the phone, etc... you aren't concentrating on the game. Your results will improve if you pay attention to each hand, each player, their styles, stacks, the way thay play on the button, in the blinds, etc...Try concentrating on the game and see what happens. You will be pleasantly surprised. (Unless you lose anyway!  :D)

I very much agree.  It's not uncommon to see people talk about getting bored and losing focus if they don't keep themselves occupied by multi-tasking.  I do it myself.  However, I don't see any way that doing so helps my poker game.  For example, when I only watch the hands I'm involved in, I have much less opportunity to develop my reads on the other players.
