Title: Poker Tip
Post by: underdog140 on November 10, 2008, 11:47:22 PM
I don't know about anyone else but I find that I play
allot better poker when I have a small bankroll because
I don't want to lose the small bankroll that I have so I play
smart poker. So my tip to everyone is.

Play every hand as if you were putting your last dollar in
the pot.

That is why I use a 10% bankroll rule.  I do not over play it and am willing to re-evaluate my play then I go below a certain amount.  Keeps me on my toes allot so I have to pay attention! :-\ ???

I think that could be a very problematic way to play, Phil Ivey suggests that if you are worried about the money at the table you have no chance of playing good poker. That doesn't mean play wild poker, you still stick to your game...Instead of being a complete nit we should employ good bankroll management (meaning bringing only a small percentage of what you have) to the table, playing at blinds withing your means and leaving every time you double or triple your starting stack and starting over would probably be a better idea.

"BARTENDER!"

"What can I get you son?"

"How 'bout a round of smite for my friend here."

yes apply bank roll management but when you
do think off the money that you bring to the
table as the only money you have. This will keep
you on your toes and keep you from making bad
decisions. At least thats what works for me.

Right I am just suggestion you cant be overly tight and afraid to play your hands, I mean thats great if your flopping sets all the time but you have to be able to bluff and semi bluff, play connectors and position  in my opinion to win on a consistant basis, obviously this all changes at a very loose table in which case playing the nit should be effective, but people are pretty wary of that approace about two years ago that would work for me quite well. Now playing that roll only works during the drunk games or romanian games.
