Poker tips / A great tip for any poker player!
« on: October 25, 2008, 03:33:57 AM »
A great piece of advice when betting... is to bet with your head, not over it.
This is the slogan for Gamblers Anonymous, and it couldn't be truer.

Sports / Re: What MLB Career Records are safe??
« on: October 17, 2008, 03:47:28 AM »
Cal's is safe for eternity, it would take nothing short of a miracle for someone to play that many seasons without missing a single start.

N.Ryan, one of my all time favorites. I have an autographed picture of Nolan Ryan, in a blood soaked jersey after he was struck in the face by a line drive. He went on to pitch a complete game, shut out. In the face, line drive... in the face. Shut Out! His strikeout record, untouchable. There's a small chance someone could match him for No-Hitters but its only a .0009% chance. Hahah
A N.Ryan record you will never find in a book and one of my favorite games ever, Nolan delivered a fast ball that hit a young, very muscular batter. The guy immediately dropped the bat and charged towards the mound, fists cocked back ready to strike. When he reached the mound, Nolan formally introduced him to a right hook and slammed him on the infield. He was 41 at the time... No pitcher, will touch this one at the age of 41. ;-)

Can we edit this post? someone forgot to put Asterisks next to Bonds name...

Off Topic / Re: Sore lossers
« on: October 17, 2008, 03:05:51 AM »
A few days ago, I saw one of the worst statements ever made after getting knocked out of a tournament. The individual made a few statements about how he could not wait for Bin Laden's next big attack on the US. How many lives were lost in those attacks? How many more have been affected by those losses, especially the children whom lost a mother, father, sister or brother? I actually wish we were playing a live tournament at that moment. He would be sipping soup through a straw for a few months! There is nothing to be gained by attacking someone over race or the country they are from...

and to celebrate or find joy in the deaths of thousands of innocent victims is absurd and insane! I posted a blog on railbirds after the tournament and came so close to giving out this persons name. I am glad I took the high road instead.

Forums are suppose to be a place where we can make new friends, share some laughs and enjoy the thing we all love most... POKER!  This person will get what is coming to them and just because someone does not respect themselves or others doesn't mean its okay to drag that negative energy and drama into our sanctuary's! Fortunately, we have moderators that will waste no time giving the boot to jerks like this one. If you feel the need to take action, report them to the poker site instead.

I would say "Man" himself is the most dangerous but something tells me that the numbers per year would be much higher.  ???

Trivia / Re: 10/16 trivia-bonanza
« on: October 17, 2008, 01:38:11 AM »
Hoss" Cartwright, the big-boned, good-natured middle son in a ranching family near Virginia City, NV, set in the mid- to late 19th century (the time frame of Bonanza was always vague, with stories shifting between the early 1860s to the 1870s and 1880s). Blocker's character's real name, incidentally, was Eric, but Hoss -- a nickname from his mother's Norwegian language that meant "friend" -- was what he was known as to everyone on the series and all viewers. Despite the weaknesses in the scripts during the early seasons, the role was a dream part for the actor, who got a chance to display his gentle, sensitive side as well as his gift for comedy, and also work in a serious dramatic context as well on many occasions, and show off his brute strength as well. It is arguable that Blocker was the most popular member of the cast during the 1960s; he was especially beloved of younger viewers, in part because his character was always very sympathetic to children. In contrast to the other stars of the series, Blocker's big-screen career wasn't halted by his work on Bonanza

1)  Eric " HOSS" Cartwright

2)  Hoss is afraid of "violence" he always says "I hate to clawper you"

Man, you just continue to amaze me with all that knowledge. ;-) I think your old English Teachers would be wondering where you got this VERY imformative information... Hee heheheh

But, I agree... what she said!  ::)
