Some tips for pain-free playing online poker
« on: September 23, 2008, 06:50:52 AM »
Do you know that while you are so engrossed playing online poker for long hours, you can get backaches, your butt & your legs may hurt, your hands & even your eyes !

Here are some tips for pain-free playing online poker:

1. Get a chair with an adjustable height.

2. Put some cushions to your chair.

3. A swivel chair makes multiple tasks easy.

4. Place the computer monitor 28 inches away from your body to reduce your exposure to electromagnetic fields.

5. Adjust the resolutions to your monitor to be easier on your eyes. Maybe if the screen is darker it feels better. Better, wear shades just like those playing at live poker.

6. Don’t raise the back of your keyboard so that you tilt your wrists. Consider an adjustable keyboard tray. You want your forearms to be parallel to (level with) the ground.

7. Consider a mouse with a scrolling wheel in the middle of it, to save dragging the mouse around with your hand.

8. Remove your shoes, let your feet relax while playing.

Additional:
Before playing, prepare things you might need or want during the game. Make it more accessible for you.

- cold water
- coffee
- cigarette, ashtray
- telephone/mobile phone
- A/C remote control
- something to eat
- etc.

Good luck!

Nice advise , you guys must be serious about playing!  Me myself I will get up to get a drink, take a break etc.  I am not glued to my chair.  I do my best to relax.  ;D

I try to play each hand by it's self, the cards have no memory!  I do not like playing more than 3 tables at a time.

But what ever you do to relax you is fine by me, nice post I did not think of that stuff till now, but I journal my play so I do not think of that stuff.

Well take care, have fun, enjoy and relax! 8) ;) ;D

Feel free to add anything that is for "pain-free playing online poker".

- my youngest daughter just asked me yesterday why I was wearing shades in front of my computer, my answer was "so my eyes won't hurt & also because I'm playing poker!"

good advice.Better to be comfortable when you are playing.
Solution to the glass is half full - half empty ......

If you are taken something out of the glass than its half empty if you are putting something in the glass than its half full..

i like to get up a lot so i don't gather anything or get it ready.  then i'm not stuck sitting all the time.    i set up a board on my treadmill so i can play while i'm on it.  that helps me with my boredom and exercising at the same time.  poker players sit to much,  that's not healthy.
it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

If you know what time it is when playing, is my tell tale sign that some thing is wrong!!  But as for preparing drinks etc and that sort of stuff leads to a question of when and how do you do your bathroom breaks?

The way I play now is my chair is comfortable and the light is just right , not to bright or dull.  Other than that I want the winning hand to hit me every time.  Which does not happen that way so i settle for 2 out of three.
